Evaluation of genetic variability and trait association for yield improvement of Lentil

Lentil is a nutritious food and one of the world's oldest domesticated legumes. The present studyevaluatedthe nature magnitude variability, heritability, genetic advance association among yield contributing traits in 24 lentils (Lens culinaris M.) genotypes. From 13 considered, phenotypic coefficients variation (PCV) were found higher than genotypic coefficient (GCV) which indicates less effect environment for expression studied. Seed weight per plants demonstrated highest PCV GCV (60.26 & 59.87) followed by number seeds plant (49.14 48.97) pods (48.58 47.95, respectively). Most showed high heritability as days to maturity exhibited (99.96%) (99.33%). Genetic percent mean was seed (122.58%) (100.56%). Among traits, (0.95& 0.94) (0.94 0.92) positive significant correlation with at both correlation. Consequently, path analysis revealed direct (0.310&372) (0.770&0.659) on level, respectively. Based characters, plant, plant,1000-seed most superior can be used hybridization program development yielding lentil genotypes.
